As you all know, times are tough right now and the economy is making it very difficult for many people in our Ward to find jobs. As members of the Church, it is our responsibility to help each other in times of need. So, with that in mind, please help each other out by letting us know about job opportunities, career training, and other resources that you find out about. Lets share that wealth of knowledge that we have with each other!

Any info you send us we will post on the blog for everyone to benefit from. Every once in a while you may even get a nice surprise at Church for participating in the blog!

There is a "Contact Me" link at the top of the blog where you can send us any info you have. You can also use it to contact us if you need us to point you in the right direction during your job search.

If you have a skill or knowledge in an area that could help other members of our ward, we would also like to know about that. If you are good at computers, resumes, have experience with hiring, or anything else that may help someone in the ward, please let us know if you are willing to help (we promise that we won't publish your contact info without your permission)! In fact, while you are here, send us some of that info on the form below!

And last but not least, please spread the word to other members of our ward about this blog. Bring it up in your Home and Visiting Teaching. When you are here, make a comment! We want to know what you think and how we can help each other! As you participate in helping other members of the ward, you will find that your life is enriched and you will also be blessed!

Bro. Huish forwarded this job info on to us earlier this week. It is a great opportunity for students. Here's the info he gave us:

I am a bus driver for Gilbert Public Schools and found out that they are actually not hiring at this time. But, Higley Schools are.

If you go to hr.husd.org, you can search and apply for a Support Job as a Bus Driver, which you may be hired on at full time (30 hours) with paid benefits. The hours are on a split schedule (2-3 in the morning and again in the afternoon). They pay $10/hr during your training, and $12.14/hr regular after that.

This is a job that gives you hours of open windows to attend school. As long as you don't want to kill kids just for being kids, you should enjoy driving a school bus.

Please thank Bro. Huish for posting this job and doing the leg work when you see him!

Bro. Harris forwarded this info on to us about jobs with Bank of America. I have also worked for them in the past and thought that they were a great employer. Here is the information Bro. Harris gave us:

I have worked for Bank of America for almost 3 years and love the company for how they treat their employees. The benefits are amazing. There are currently 53 openings in Arizona (statewide) with the bank. Some of these positions are internal hires only but the majority of them are not. Many are positions inside a branch and range from part time to full time.

If anyone is interested in any of these positions, please email me and I can get you more information.

I can also volunteer some of my skills if needed. I've become pretty proficient at creating resumes or helping others improve them by changing some verbiage, etc. I'd be more than happy to look at resumes via email and return an edited copy along with the original.

As part of my job I know a lot about credit cards and how they work. I'd be happy to field any questions in that area.

And finally, I can read credit reports from all 3 bureaus. If someone has pulled their credit report but gets a little lost in reading it, I can probably help with that as well.

I know it's a lot of information but it sounds like a lot of people are in need of help.

-Mike Harris

If you would like more info about working for Bank of America or could use some of the help Bro. Harris has offered, please check the ward list for his phone number or contact us and we will give you his contact information.

As you may or may not know, a new census year is upon us which means plenty of jobs for the public. The 2010 census is a great opportunity for all of us to secure extra part-time employment that pays quite well.

To apply, you need to contact your local census office or call this number:

1-866-861-2010

I also highly suggest checking out their website to get some more information about the details of the job. It sounds like it will be really good employment for those who get in quick and take advantage of this great opportunity. Travel and training are also paid for while you are a census worker.

The great thing about this opportunity is that it is extremely flexible and you can largely do the work on your spare time.

Jump on this opportunity while you can!
